I'm not letting any POTUS off the hook for the spending and debt.. but here's the real problem, the American people. Any candidate that says he's going to either make drastic cuts in spending or drastic tax hikes, will not get the votes to win.  The American people are gluttonous for the most part.  They want more stuff and don't want to pay for it.  Trump was especially bad for it, he was so concerned about his popularity, I think he knew what should be done but knew it'd be unpopular and he cares about that, to a fault at times. Also, if anyone wants to address the real elephant in the room of spending, which is our military and war state.. well look what happened to JFK.  Look what they did to the trump presidency for simply saying bad things and not starting new wars.  They made false claims and legal documents that they knew were false in order to subvert a POTUS elected by the people.  Without being dramatic, this is treason by these agencies.  Also spied on his campaign.  Whether you liked Trump or hated him, if you have principles you should be outraged and horrified that we have unelected people in government agencies that are doing this, that is such a bigger story than anything in my lifetime.  They are the ones who are in charge in this country.  If someone was going to severely cut "defense" budget, you'd see who is actually in charge, it would get dark, these are not our friends.  They own this country and it is not what we think it is, at all. One thing to remember about not paying the piper, we still have to pay interest on this ever growing debt.  We pay a shit load just in interest, that's a large part of the budget and getting larger.  At some point it will be 100% of it.  Rfk talks about this in this interview today
