That was all done well before Textron @fortune46x might know more details than I do, but I do that the original AC designed/built engine was cut out of the chassis, and a yami mill was stuffed in, day's to a week before it was first run across the stage at the dealer meeting. There isn't really anything left at AC that is worth anything to anyone..  The last patent worth a shit was filed before textron bought it.  All the valuable IP has been left to rot..  The 2 stroke DI system, turbo that used a engine driven oil system.  The composite leaf spring rear skid, the snow bike (that was the reason for developing, tooling, and building the blast engine)  Turbo XX, 4 seat, and turbo 4 seat XX  the vast majority of the guys who developed that stuff got fired, and all the prototypes got sent to the crusher.  Lots of the good engine guys went to poo.

Unless you got a leftover 18 for under 9 grand, you dodged a bullet on the havoc.  Water pump problems brand new (hundreds got replaced before even leaving TRF) and often, POS team primary clutch, wiring issues, and the no name transaxle with a goofy 2 chamber oiling design front output shaft of the trans is too soft, the seal wears a groove in a thousand miles or less.  Parts are mostly discontinued, the front output shaft can only be bough as an assy (if at all) Its too bad, as when brand new they were a hell of a machine, but little to no testing, and even less support.  (funny story, the only cold weather testing they did was in a reefer trailer in Augusta, the AC guys had to test and develop a new map for it and the stampeede, as they wouldn't start for shit when it got below 40)
