So for the first 1500ish miles after the rebuild, I noticed it was running a good ~20+ degrees warmer than it was before. Could keep it around 124–126 in twisty trails, but as soon as you start approaching 60 it would just climb and climb into the upper 130’s past 140 and this is with scratchers down 100% of the time, even in loose snow conditions!
As they weren’t going to warranty that after the rebuild, I finally went the route of replacing the thermostat, which means replacing the bottle on the 850’s (yes, it’s part of the bottle). Last weekend was the first ride and immediately I knew it was corrected. 104-106 in the twisties and 116-120 north of 60-70mph - WITHOUT scratchers.
Just an FYI for anyone experiencing a warmer than normal running 850. Of course this is on a 12k+ mile sled…
