Canadians with few exceptions would love to have the dairy and poultry tariffs removed on US products.
It is %100 political. The lobby groups in these industries are very political and it's quite literally a 3rd rail.
Put simply, the odds of getting elected and not supporting the scheme is near zero.
One can site many examples of lobby groups in certain states that are actively courted by politicians, and those that want to be one.
Don't think these long established tariffs are only aimed at the US.
It goes so far as it is illegal, yes illegal to sell your own milk, sell more than a certain amount of eggs, chickens and many other agricultural products, in Canada, to Canadians.
